Wireless Internet

Wireless internet connections, most commonly known as Wi-Fi, provides the ability to connect to broadband internet without the use of wires.

So, what exactly is wireless internet?

Wireless internet, or Wi-Fi, is an internet connection within your home or office, where you can connect to broadband without the use of wires. It works by using radio waves, the same way your TV or mobile phone does.

Your broadband connection sends internet connectivity waves/information to a device known as a wireless transmitter. The transmitter then converts the information received into a radio signal and sends it out within a certain range for your use.

Think of it this way: Your transmitter is like a mini radio station, which broadcasts signals sent from the internet. The “listening audience” for these transmissions is your computer (or tablet, or smartphone) – which receive the radio signal through a device called the wireless adapter. Meanwhile, the entire process is also working in reverse. In other words, your computer is sending information to the device called the wireless transmitter. From there, it converts the radio signals and sends them through your broadband connection.

Wireless internet connections are a great option for households who may have a lot of devices that need to be connected to the internet without the use of wires.
